Central Arkansas’ Lucy Ibeh Named Women’s Basketball Player of the Week
FRISCO, Texas – Central Arkansas’ Lucy Ibeh is the Southland Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, the league announced Monday. Southland weekly honors are presented by
Hercules Tires.
Ibeh boosted the Sugar Bears (8-11, 6-5 SLC) to the program’s 900th win last week with an impressive outing in a 61-50 victory over Nicholls Saturday. The junior forward shot 9-of-18 against the Colonels, recording a game-high 20 points to go along with five boards and a trio of steals.
The weekly award marks the first of Ibeh’s career and makes her the first Sugar Bear to win the honor since the 2017-18 season. Central Arkansas is back in action Saturday, Feb. 27, at home against Abilene Christian. Tipoff is slated for 2 p.m. and can be seen on ESPN+.
Women’s Basketball Player of the Week – Lucy Ibeh, Central Arkansas – Jr. – Forward – Lagos, Nigeria
Ibeh led Central Arkansas with 20 points, five rebounds, three steals and an assist Saturday in a crucial road victory against Nicholls. The junior is averaging 13.3 points per game this season, has scored in double figures in 10 contests and has now registered three games with 20 or more points.

Southland weekly award winners are nominated and voted upon by each school’s sports information director. Voting for one’s own athlete is not permitted. To earn honorable mention, a student-athlete must appear on 25 percent of ballots.
