Caitlyn Brockway, Kassidy Wilbur Earn Weekly Softball Awards
FRISCO, Texas – Houston Baptist’s Caitlyn Brockway and Stephen F. Austin’s Kassidy Wilbur are the Southland Conference Softball Hitter and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, the league announced Monday. Southland weekly honors are presented by

Brockway pushed the Huskies (19-12, 12-9 SLC) to a series sweep over the weekend with a trio of wins at home against Lamar. She registered three runs on six hits and put up six RBI for the weekend, while swinging .545 from the plate. The sophomore had a pair of multiple-hit games, including a pair of home runs in Saturday’s opening game. The award marks the first of the season for Brockway and the second Hitter of the Week award for the Huskies this season.
Wilbur locked up her fourth Pitcher of the Week honor of the season after lifting the Ladyjacks to a pair of wins against Central Arkansas last weekend. She blanked the Bears in both of her appearances, limiting UCA to a .102 batting average. Both of her shutouts came in complete-game fashion as she also rang up 18 batters over 14 innings of work to improve to a 25-3 record on the season.
Softball Hitter of the Week – Caitlyn Brockway, Houston Baptist – 1B – So. – Tomball, Texas
Brockway opened the series against Lamar with a 3-for-3 outing at the plate, hitting her sixth homer in her first at-bat of the contest. She then nailed her second shot of the game in the fifth inning to secure two more RBI before closing the contest with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the sixth. She closed out the series with three more hits in the final two games to help secure the weekend sweep for Houston Baptist.

Softball Pitcher of the Week – Kassidy Wilbur, Stephen F. Austin – RHP – Jr. – Bridge City, Texas
Wilbur was dominant in two complete-game shutouts against second-place Central Arkansas over the weekend, helping SFA secure the series victory and maintain a lead in the Southland standings. She hurled a one-hit shutout in the series opener, striking out eight batters. In the final game of the series, Wilbur fanned ten more batters and allowed just five hits. She earned wins in both games to stretch her record to 25-3 on the season, and has now recorded wins in each of her last 12 starts.

Southland weekly award winners are nominated and voted upon by each school’s sports information director. Voting for one’s own athlete is not permitted. To earn honorable mention, a student-athlete must appear on at least 25 percent of ballots.
