Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Claims 2021 Southland Women’s Tennis Title
BEAUMONT, Texas – Texas A&M-Corpus Christi completed its dominant run through the 2021 Southland Conference Women’s Tennis Tournament, sealing its third 4-0 victory of the weekend, this time over No. 7 Lamar in Monday’s championship match at Beaumont Municipal Tennis Center in Beaumont, Texas. The Islanders did not drop a match throughout the tournament in either doubles or singles play on the way to their fourth tournament title in program history.

No. 2 doubles Emma Honore and Emma Aucagne and No. 3 doubles Leopoldine Boisseau and Kateryna Rublevska made quick work of the Cardinals, sealing a 6-2 and 6-1 victory, respectively, to gain the doubles point for the Islanders. Camille Townsend left her stamp on the match with A&M-Corpus Christi’s first singles victory of the day at the No. 2 position with a 6-0 and 6-4 performance. Honore showed up once again for the Islanders, this time with a pair of 6-2 wins to earn the point at No. 3. It was Aucagne’s singles match at No. 4 that proved to be the deciding factor as the freshman stamped a 6-4 and 6-1 victory over Natalia Molina.
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi has earned the Southland’s automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament, which will begin Friday, May 7. The Islanders will learn their first-round opponent and site during the NCAA selection show, airing Monday, May 3 at 6 p.m. on the NCAA website.
