Opening Rounds of Southland Softball Tournament Postponed
HAMMOND, La. (May 12, 2021) – Due to impending weather and inclement field conditions, the Southland Conference has announced new site and new times for the two opening-round games at the Southland Softball Tournament. Both first-round games will now be played at St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Hammond, La.
Game one between No. 6 seed Houston Baptist and No. 7 seed Sam Houston will now begin at 5 p.m. Wednesday evening and game two between No. 5 seed Southastern Louisiana and No. 8 seed Abilene Christian is slated for a 7:30 p.m. opening pitch.
With the new site for games one and two, there will be no broadcast for the two opening round games. Location and times for the remaining games at the tournament will be determined at a later time.

Tournament play will now begin Wednesday, May 12 at 11 a.m. with game one between No. 6 seed Houston Baptist and No. 7 seed Sam Houston. No. 5 seed Southeastern Louisiana will now take on No. 8 Abilene Christian in game two at 1:30 p.m. Both opening-round games will remain single-elimination matchups.
Second-round action will now begin Wednesday evening with game three between No. 3 seed McNeese and the winner of game one at 4 p.m. Game four, featuring No. 4 Northwestern State and the winner of game two, is now slated for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday evening.
No. 2 seed Central Arkansas will now take on the winner of game three Thursday, May 13, at 11 a.m., while top-seeded Stephen F. Austin will make its tournament debut Thursday at 1:30 p.m. against the winner of game four.
