SFA Also Claims Women’s Title; Southeastern Louisiana Finishes Atop Men’s Standings

FRISCO, Texas – Stephen F. Austin is the winner of the 2020-21 Southland Conference Commissioner’s Cup, the league announced Tuesday. The Ladyjacks/Lumberjacks also finished first in the Women’s All-Sports standings with five regular-season titles, while Southeastern Louisiana topped the Men’s All-Sports award.

SFA earned seven titles in total, with regular-season championships in women’s basketball, volleyball, soccer, softball and women’s outdoor track & field, along with men’s indoor and outdoor track & field trophies. With third-place finishes in women’s cross country, indoor track & field and beach volleyball, SFA finished with a dominant 13-point lead over second place Central Arkansas on the women’s side, and a 21-point difference over runner-up Sam Houston State in the Commissioner’s Cup standing.

The men’s race went down to the wire, with Southeastern Louisiana placing third in baseball (the last championship of the season) to finish with 71.0 points on the men’s side. The Lions also won the men’s cross country title and placed second in football, indoor track & field and outdoor track & field. SLU just edged baseball regular-season champion Abilene Christian, who finished with 70.5 points on the season.
