SLU's Williams Tabbed Women's Basketball Player of the Week

FRISCO, Texas – Southeastern’s Caitlyn Williams is the Southland Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, the league announced Monday. Southland weekly honors are presented by GEICO.

Williams guided the Lady Lions to a 2-0 week and has the program off to its best conference start in history at 5-0. The senior forward averaged a team-best 12.5 points and 12.0 rebounds in a pair of home victories. The Brusly, La., native tied her career-high 17 rebounds, to go with a team-high nine points, in a 48-43 victory over A&M-Corpus Christi that gave the Lady Lions sole possession of first place in the leagues standings.

This award marks the first of Williams career. Southeastern returns to action on Thursday, traveling to McNeese for a 5 p.m. contest in Lake Charles. The Lady Lions close out the weekend at HBU on Saturday, Feb. 5, at 2 p.m.

Williams averaged 12.5 points and 12.0 rebounds in a pair of Southland Conference victories last week. She tied a career-high with 17 rebounds to go with a team-high nine points in a 48-43 victory over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi that gave Southeastern sole possession of first place in the league standings. The Brusly, Louisiana, native backed that up with a 16-point, seven-rebound showing in a 76-49 win over UIW. Williams leads the team with 12.4 points per game and 8.4 rebounds per game.
