TAMUC's McCulloch, TAMUCC's Charbonnier earn October Southland Golfer of the Month awards
FRISCO, Texas – Texas A&M-Commerce’s Nathan McCulloch and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi’s Lucie Charbonnier are the winners of the October Southland Conference Cross Golfer of the Month awards, as announced by the league office Thursday.
Men’s Athlete of the Week: Nathan McCulloch, Texas A&M-Commerce – Sr. – Edinburgh, Scotland
McCulloch and the Lions competed in three tournaments during October and he had two top 10 finishes, including a runner-up finish at New Mexico State, where he was tied for the lead with six holes left in the tournament. McCulloch closed out the fall by shooting a 65 at Baylor to finish 10th and improving his score by 14 strokes.
Women’s Athlete of the Week: Lucie Charbonnier, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi – Jr. – Peron, France (Mouratoglou Tennis Etudes)
Charbonnier twice tied the school record for best 54-hole tournament with 213's at New Mexico State and Arkansas State. She shot a 72-73-68 at New Mexico State, with her third round being the low for the month and also the second-best round in school history. She followed it up with a 71-70-72 at Arkansas State and placed fourth in both tournaments. Charbonnier closed the month strong by taking runner-up honors at Wofford with a 75-69-74 and was one stroke out of first-place. Charbonnier's pair of 213's matched a performance by Ashlie Simmons in 2003-04 for the school record.
