Augusta Crowned Southland Women’s Golf Champions

CONROE, Texas – Competing in its first Southland Conference women’s golf championship, top-seeded Augusta came out on top with a three-round total of 902 (+38) after carding a 299 (+11) as a squad on Wednesday at the Panorama Golf Club.
The Jaguars were led by Natalia Yoko and Chloe Holder, who finished second and third overall, respectively. Yoko turned in a one-under performance on the final day to finish five-over, followed by Holder at seven-over. It was a disciplined approach for Augusta, who accounted for the top four individuals in pars.
UIW’s Ellen Nichols claimed the individual medal – her fifth victory of the season – after posting a tournament-low round of 70 (-2) on Wednesday. She totaled a 218 (+2) over the three days to help the Cardinals to a runner-up finish at 58-over par.
Also playing in its first Southland tournament, Delaware State improved on its score for the second-straight day, registering a team score of 306 (+18) to claim third place at the event. The Hornets’ Anna Ferreyra-Heit and Nattavadee Khunsri finished in a tie for fourth on the individual leaderboard at 11-over par. The duo shot 73 and 74 in the final round, respectively.
HBU and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi finished in a tie for fourth with marks of 949 (+85), and Maryland Eastern Shore rounded out the field with a three-day tally of 1,200.
Augusta earns the Southland’s automatic berth in the NCAA Regional Tournament and will compete at one of six regional sites, which will be announced on the NCAA Women’s Golf selection show. The event will air at 3 p.m. CT on Wednesday, April 27, on the Golf Channel.
