Lamar's Akasha Davis takes opening Southland Women's Basketball Player of the Week of 2023

FRISCO, Texas – Lamar’s Akasha Davis helped lead Lamar to a pair of wins in the last two weeks and has been named the Southland Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the seventh week of the regular season, as announced Monday by the conference office.

Player of the Week: Akasha Davis, Lamar – So. – Center – Dallas, Texas (Wylie East HS)
Davis averaged 20.5 points and 9.0 rebounds in a pair of wins for the Cardinals including a win in the conference opener. She grabbed her seventh career double-double with a season-high 25 points and 11 rebounds against Texas A&M-Texarkana, with 12 points in the third quarter of that game. She then tallied 16 points, seven rebounds, and two blocks against McNeese to open the conference season. She ranks in the top 15 in the conference in both points and rebounds per game.
