NSU's Ja'Monta Black shoots his way to his second Southland Men's Basketball Player of the Week award this season
FRISCO, Texas – Northwestern State's Ja'Monta Black displayed prowess from long range in a pair of wins for the Demons last week, and is the winner of the Southland Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week award for the 10th award of the regular season, as announced Monday by the conference office.
Player of the Week: Ja'Monta Black, Northwestern State - Sr. - Guard - Columbia, Mo. (Rock Bridge HS)
Black led the Demons in scoring in both of their road wins at league co-leader Southeastern and New Orleans last week. He hit eight three-pointers in the win at SLU and forced overtime by sinking all three free throws with 13.5 seconds to play. He then added another six three-pointers in Saturday's win at UNO. He scored 18 of his 28 points in the second half of Saturday's win. Black currently leads the Southland Conference in made 3-pointers with 79 and in 3-pointers made per game at 4.16 -- both of which rank third nationally.
