FRISCO, Texas – Lamar's Robert Coleman and Nicholls' Tyler Morton and Kylan Dupre are the winners of the Southland Conference’s football weekly awards for the fifth week of the season, as announced by the conference office Monday.
Offensive Player of the Week: Robert Coleman, Lamar– QB – Jr. – Menifee, Calif. (Vista Murrieta HS)
Robert Coleman went on the road and led Lamar to their first conference win of the season, defeating HCU 21-19 behind a brilliant day from the junior quarterback. Completed was 19 of 30 passing on the evening for 294 yards and two touchdowns as Lamar won its conference opener for the first time since 2015. Coleman steadily marched the Cardinal offense to over 400 total yards on the road. It was the first time LU won back-to-back games since the 2019 season.

Defensive Player of the Week: Tyler Morton, Nicholls – S – Jr. – St. Rose, La. (Destrehan HS)
Tyler Morton was responsible for two of the defense's four turnovers in the Colonels' league-opening win at McNeese. Both happened in the second half, starting with a highlight interception on a deep ball at the Colonels' 20. Then with McNeese looking to make a late rally, Morton upended the ball carrier inside the 15 for a forced fumble to seal the win. He filled the stat sheet with five tackles, one pick, a forced fumble and a pass breakup as Nicholls cruised to a 31-10 road win over McNeese.

Special Teams Player of the Week: Kylan Dupre, Nicholls – P – So. – Geismar, La. (Catholic HS)
Kylan Dupre punted just four times at McNeese but had a major impact in the league-opening win for the Colonels, averaging 46.0 yards with three inside the 10. His first punt went for 49 yards and was muffed inside the 10, leading to an early touchdown for the offense. The second punt was downed at the 3, and after a three-and-out, the Colonels scored on a short TD drive. In the second half, Dupre's 59-yarder was fielded inside the 10 for no return with his final punt going to the 20 for a 3-yard return.
