Lamar's Davis Named Southland Women's Basketball Player of the Week

FRISCO, Texas – Lamar's Akasha Davis has won this week's SLC Women's Basketball Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday. This is the third time a Cardinal has won the award this season as Davis joins teammate Sabria Dean, who has won the award twice.

Women's Player of the Week: Akasha Davis, Lamar – Jr. – Dallas, Texas (Wylie East HS)
Akasha Davis averaged 18.5 points per game this past week and recorded her 20th and 21st career double-doubles. She started with 22 points on 7-of-9 shooting and grabbed 10 rebounds in come-from-behind 63-60 win over Louisiana. Then, battling with TCU's Sedona Price, Davis matched the second leading scorer in the Big XII with 15 points and grabbed 14 rebounds. Davis is averaging 14.0 points per game, which is second on the team and in the conference while second in rebounding with 7.6 per game.
