Lamar's Akasha Davis picks up Southland Women's Basketball Player of the Week with pair of double-doubles
FRISCO, Texas – Lamar's Akasha Davis pushed her team to a pair of wins with double-doubles in each game last week to win Southland Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week honors, as announced Monday by the conference office.
Player of the Week: Akasha Davis, Lamar - Jr. - Center - Dallas, Texas (Wylie East HS)
Davis averaged 19.5 points and 11.0 rebounds per game with double-doubles in two LU wins over UIW and A&M-Corpus Christi. She scored 23 points on 10-of-13 shooting and grabbed 12 rebounds against UIW, then scored 16 points on 7-of-9 shooting and grabbed 10 rebounds against A&M-Corpus Christi. Davis shot 77.2% from the field (17-of-22) for the week and now has six double-doubles this season. She has scored in double figures in 15 straight games for the Cardinals.
