FRISCO, Texas – Mariana Torres of McNeese won Hitter of the Week honors and HCU's Katy Janes twirled a no-hitter in conference play to win the Pitcher of the Week award as the Southland Conference Softball Player of the Week awards for the sixth week of the 2023 season were announced Monday by the conference office.

Hitter of the Week: Mariana Torres, McNeese - So. - INF - Pflugerville, Texas (Hendrickson HS)
Torres had her best week of a Cowgirl at the plate and helped McNeese to a 4-0 record on the week. Torres ended the week with a .727 batting average, .769 on base percent and a 1.000 slugging percent, hitting safely in all four games and picked up two or more hits in three of the four games. She was 8 for 11 at the plate with three doubles, 4 RBI, and scored 4 runs along with two stolen bases and one walk.

Pitcher of the Week: Katy Janes, HCU - Jr. - RHP - Huffman, Texas (Hargrave HS)
Janes tossed a no-hitter in the SLC opener between the Huskies and A&M-Corpus Christi, throwing 7.0 innings with five strikeouts and two walks in a 1-0 victory. She also threw 1.1 innings in relief in game three to total 8.1 innings of no-hit pitching in the circle.
