FRISCO, Texas – Southeastern Louisiana's Bailey Krolczyk and McNeese's Ashley Vallejo are the winners of the Southland Conference Softball Player of the Week awards for the ninth week of the 2023 season, which were announced Monday by the conference office.

Hitter of the Week: Bailey Krolczyk, Southeastern - Jr. - C - Corpus Christi, Texas (Veterans Memorial HS)
Krolczyk hit .438 with three home runs, two doubles and 11 RBI in a 5-0 week and tied the school record for longest hitting streak (17 games). She drove in six runs in a 12-0 victory at Jackson State and hit two home runs in a 12-8 win over UIW. She currently leads the Southland in slugging percentage, OPS, home runs, doubles and RBI.

Pitcher of the Week: Ashley Vallejo, McNeese - Jr. - RHP - New Waverly, Texas (Willis HS)
Vallejo appeared in three games last week and was 2-0 with a 0.53 ERA and two one-hit shutouts. She was the winning pitcher in the two Cowgirl wins in the Northwstern State series. She allowed only three hits last week, with her other hit and only run and earned run given up last week against Louisiana. In the opening game against NSU, Vallejo struck out a career high 14 including striking out 10 of the first 12 batters she faced. She followed that performance up with another one-hitter in the rubber game of the series to clinch the series, retiring the first 13 batters she faced before allowing two walks.
