FRISCO, Texas – HCU freshman Dylan LaRue and Northwestern State reliever Chase Prestwich are the winners of the Southland Baseball Player of the Week awards for the seventh week of the 2023 season, which were announced Monday by the conference office.

Hitter of the Week: Dylan LaRue, HCU - Fr. - C - Blanco, Texas (Blanco HS)
LaRue batted .636 to help lead the Huskies to a series win over McNeese with a .667 on-base percentage. He raised his season average by nearly .040 points this week, driving in runs in three different at bats in the rubber game win over McNeese.

Pitcher of the Week: Chase Prestwich, Northwestern State - So. - RHP - Frederick, Colo. (Frederick HS)
Prestwich entered Sunday's game with the bases loaded and no outs and allowed only one inherited runner to score. He finished by throwing the final four innings, picking up his first career save. He tied a career high with seven strikeouts and did not allow a runner to reach scoring position, surrendering two singles in his four innings of work.
