FRISCO, Texas – The Southland Conference announced its 1,269 student-athletes from across 100 teams and 11 sports for the Spring 2023 Commissioner’s Honor Roll. Spring sports from the Southland include baseball, men’s basketball, women’s basketball, beach volleyball, men’s golf, women’s golf, softball, men’s tennis, women’s tennis, men’s track & field, and women’s track & field.

The Southland Spring Commissioner’s Honor Roll recognizes student-athletes who maintain at least a 3.0 grade point average (GPA) in the semester of their respective sport.
Of the 1,269 students named to the list, 26.5 percent (336) held a perfect 4.0 GPA throughout the spring term.
“We are proud to celebrate the success of Southland Conference student-athletes and their high achievements not only competitively, but also academically,” said Commissioner Chris Grant. “We continue to support and look to enhance our student-athletes’ success as they graduate and begin their life after sports.”
Among the 10 core Southland institutions, UIW led the way with 138 student-athletes on the spring honor roll, followed closely by HCU with 130 and A&M-Corpus Christi with 128. Nicholls had 121 honorees, with Lamar claiming 120, Southeastern earning 117, McNeese taking 112 spots, and Northwestern State earning 103.
McNeese's baseball team had the most honorees by a single team in the spring with 35, followed by A&M-Commerce’s men’s track and field team with 34, and McNeese’s women’s track and field team with 28. Nicholls led softball teams with 21 honorees, A&M-Corpus Christi led beach volleyball squads with 16 honorees, men’s basketball with nine honorees, and women’s golf with eight honorees, Bryant led men’s golf with 13 and women’s tennis with 11.
Women’s basketball’s lead was a tie between A&M-Corpus Christi and HCU with 13 honorees each. Men’s tennis had three teams with 10 honorees apiece – Bryant, Nicholls, and UIW.
