FRISCO, Texas – Lamar's Akasha Davis has won this week's SLC Women's Basketball Player of the Week award, as announced by the conference office on Monday. This is Davis' second Player of the Week accolade this season, and join's teammate Sabria Dean as the only student-athletes to garner this recognition on multiple occasions in 2023-24.
Women's Player of the Week: Akasha Davis, Lamar – Jr. – Dallas, Texas (Wylie East HS)
Davis averaged 25 points and 16.5 rebounds across two games last week. She scored 21 points against Texas A&M-Commerce, including Lamar's first 10 points of the game, before setting a new career high with 29 points against HCU. Both performances were Double Doubles, with 15 boards against the Lions, and another 18 - also a career high - against the Huskies. Davis had a 16 point third quarter which helped lead the Cardinals to a 65-54 win over HCU.
