FRISCO, Texas – For the second consecutive week, Lamar's Akasha Davis has won the SLC Women's Basketball Player of the Week award, as announced by the conference office on Monday. This is Davis' third such accolade this season. She is the only player to win the award three times this season, with teammate Sabria Dean the only other student-athlete to garner this recognition on multiple occasions (twice) in 2023-24.
Women's Player of the Week: Akasha Davis, Lamar – Jr. – Dallas, Texas (Wylie East HS)
Davis averaged 19 points per game and 16.5 rebounds per game last week. She produced almost identical performances in wins against New Orleans and Southeastern Louisiana, helping Lamar to a 2-0 record and a share of top spot in the SLC standings. Davis scored 19 points in each game, with16 rebounds against the Privateers, and 17 against the Lions. She is currently in the midst of a streak of six straight double-doubles, and already has 10 for the season. Davis ranks 19th in the nation in total double-doubles, and 7th in the country in offensive rebounds per game.
