SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word football program was picked as the No. 6 seed during the 2024 NCAA FCS Playoff Selection Show on Sunday afternoon. The Cardinals received a first-round bye and are set to host the second round of the NCAA FCS Playoffs at Gayle and Tom Benson Stadium.

No. 6 UIW now will play the winner between No 11 Villanova and Eastern Kentucky on Saturday, December 7 at 1 p.m. CT.

Southeastern Louisiana and Stephen F. Austin, unfortunately, saw their bubble burst as they did not make the final bracket. The Lions found out they were one of the four final teams out. 
 
The Cardinals were crowned the Southland Conference Champions, for the third time in four years and this playoff appearance marks the fourth postseason trip for UIW football. The Cardinals reached new heights during the 2024 season, marking the first team in program history to go undefeated in Southland Conference play.
