FRISCO –
After helping the Southeastern Louisiana University football team close out the 2024 season with a 19-16 River Bell Classic win at Nicholls, Lion kicker Riley Callaghan was named the Stats Perform FCS National Special Teams Player of the Week.

Callaghan is the first Southeastern player to earn FCS national weekly honors since former quarterback Cole Kelley claimed offensive weekly honors on Oct. 12, 2021.

Callaghan hit the game-winning 40-yard field goal as time expired to improve SLU to 7-5 overall and 6-1 in SLC play. The Ashburn, Virginia native made all four of his field goal attempt in the win over the Colonels.

After struggling during nonconference play and briefly losing his starting job, Callaghan was lights out versus league competition. He made 14-of-15 field goal attempts in Southland contests and his 17 made field goals on the season tied the program's single-season mark.
