Nicholls' Swift named Jersey Mike's Southland Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week

FRISCO, Texas — Nicholls' Tanita Swift has earned her second-straight Jersey Mike's Southland Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week award, the conference office announced Monday.

Earning her second consecutive player of the week honor, Swift averaged 23.5 points in a week that saw the Colonels split games. In the 74-55 win over Alcorn, Swift shot 9-for-17 (.529) from the field and made 10 free-throws for a total of 28 points, which are the most points scored by a Southland women's basketball player this season. Friday against Louisiana, she shot 40 percent from three and scored 19 points to bring her season average to a conference leading 18 PPG. She also had seven steals, nine rebounds and six assists on the week. Swift is one of two players in the conference averaging over three steals per game.
