FRISCO, Texas – Akasha Davis of Lamar has been named the SLC Women's Basketball Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday. This was Davis' fourth recognition in 2023-24, and she is the only player in the SLC to have earned this award on four occasions this year.
Women's Player of the Week: Akasha Davis, Lamar – Jr. – Dallas, Texas (Wylie East HS)
Davis averaged 23.0 points per game and 13.5 rebounds per game in two games last weekend. Both performances were with double-doubles, as she shot 58.3% from the field across the two contests. She tallied 22 points on 7-of-12 shooting and 16 rebounds against Texas A&M-Commerce to give the Cardinals a 74-58 win, which helped them clinch a share of the Southland Conference Regular Season title. She also posted 24 points and 11 rebounds against Northwestern State in a 80-64 victory that helped Lamar clinch the title outright.
