FRISCO, Texas – Lamar catcher Zak Skinner and UIW left-handed pitcher Josh Salinas were named the Jersey Mike's Southland Baseball Players of the Week, announced Monday by the conference office.

Hitter of the Week: Zak Skinner, Lamar - Sr. - C - Melbourne, Australia
Skinner started four games and fueled the Cardinals to a three-game sweep of Oklahoma, going 7-of-19 (.368) at the plate with a double, two home runs and eight RBIs while scoring four runs on the week. In the Cardinals' 13-8 game 2 win at Oklahoma, Skinner was 5-for-5 at the plate with two home runs, a double, six RBIs and three runs scored.

Pitcher of the Week: Josh Salinas, UIW - GR - LHP - Corpus Christi, Texas (Moody HS)
Friday was all about Salinas as he struck out ten batters during his complete game shutout. Salinas sat down the last nine batters in order to finish off the Privateers. The Cardinals' starter scattered three hits and two walks to move to 3-0 on the season and the 2-0 win over UNO to bring on the rubber match.
