FRISCO, Texas –UIW's Dalton Beck and Lamar pitcher Brooks Caple were named the Jersey Mike's Southland Baseball Players of the Week, announced Monday by the conference office.
This is Caple's second claiming the Pitcher of the Week honor this season while Beck becomes the first Cardinal to win the hitter of the week award.
Hitter of the Week: Dalton Beck, UIW - Jr. - DH - Frisco, Tx (Reedy HS)
Beck had a monster week for the Cardinals as he helped them cruise 4-0 on the week. Dalton had 12 hits, 11 RBIs, and 4 home runs. Beck finished the week batting .632 with a 1.316 slugging percentage.
Pitcher of the Week: Brooks Caple, Lamar - Sr. - RHP - Gunter, Tx (Gunter HS)
Brooks guided Lamar to a series-opening 2-1 win. He pitched 6.1 innings surrendering no runs on three hits with 10 strikeouts. Caple held the Lions to a .136 batting average and picked up his fifth win of the season.
