FRISCO, Texas – Catcher Miguel Useche of New Orleans and right-handed pitcher Nico Saltaformaggion of Nicholls were named the Jersey Mike's Southland Baseball Players of the Week for their performances this past weekend.

Hitter of the Week: Miguel Useche, New Orleans - Sr. - C - Caracas, Venezuela (Flanagan HS)
Miguel Useche had a big week as the Privateers went 3-1. Useche hit .438 while going 7-for-16. He had two home runs over the weekend against Northwestern State and had a 6-RBI day in the series opener against the Demons. Useche also sported a .500 on base percentage. 
Honorable Mention: Jake Haze, Southeastern; Zak Skinner, Lamar

Pitcher of the Week: Nico Saltaformaggio, Nicholls - Jr. - RHP - Sneads, Fla. (Sneads HS)
Senior pitcher Nico Saltaformaggio picked up both wins in relief over league-leading Lamar while posting a 1.00 ERA in nine innings of work. After picking up the win in the series opener, he fanned five batters and pitched the final six innings to complete the shutout to clinch the series on Sunday. He totaled seven strikeouts and held opponents to a .152 batting average.
