FRISCO, Texas – Infielder/designated hitter Simon Larranaga of McNeese and left handed pitcher Nico Saltaformaggion of Nicholls were named the Jersey Mike's Southland Baseball Players of the Week for their performances this past weekend.
Hitter of the Week: Simon Larranaga, McNeese - Jr. - IF/DH - Mount Belvieu, Texas (Barbershill HS)
Larranaga was a part of a Cowboys squad that swept Texas A&M-Corpus Christi over the weekend as he collected 11 hits in 17 at-bats while scoring seven runs. Larranaga hit two home runs and a double while tallying six RBIs. He owns a slugging percentage of 1.059 and on base percentage of .700 and averaged of .647 through the week.
Pitcher of the Week: Nico Saltaformaggio, Nicholls - Jr. - LHP - Sneads, Fla. (Sneads HS)
Senior pitcher Nico Saltaformaggio had two productive outings on the mound. He earned his fourth victory of the season after allowing four hits, one run, and tallying eight strikeouts in 7.1 innings of work against UIW. He also picked up three strikeouts in his lone frame against Southern.
