Theriot Recognized in Consecutive Weeks, Huerta and Loetzer Awarded with Jersey Mike's Southland Soccer Players of the Week Honors

FRISCO, Texas – HCU’s Alexa Huerta, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's Zoe Theriot and Rachel Loetzer have won this week's Jersey Mike's Southland Women’s Soccer Player of the Week awards, the conference office announced Tuesday.

Goalkeeper of the Week: Zoe Theriot, A&M-Corpus Christi – Sr. – Forney, Texas (Forney High School) 
Theriot claims the SLC Goalkeeper of the Week award in consecutive weeks, highlighting a strong start for the senior. She claimed her first win in the net of the season following the Islanders' 2-1 victory over Sam Houston. Theriot recorded eight saves through the full 90 minutes.

Defensive Player of the Week: Rachel Loetzer – Sr. – Frisco, Texas (Frisco Memorial High School)     
Loetzer scored one of the Islanders' goals in a 2-1 victory over Sam Houston, their only game of the week. She anchored down the defensive side, playing 77 minutes in the match. The senior leads the team in points with three on the season 

Offensive Player of the Week: Alexa Huerta, HCU – Jr. – Austin, Texas (Ann Richards School for Young Women Leaders)  
Huerta scored twice in the first 17 minutes, giving the Huskies an early 2-0 lead at Sam Houston on Thursday. She followed that with an assist on the Huskies' game-winning goal at Southern on Sunday. The HCU junior leads the conference with six points (two goals and two assists) through the first two weeks of the season.
