FRISCO, Texas — Lamar's Akasha Davis has earned Jersey Mike's Southland Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week award, the conference office announced Monday.
Northwestern State's Mya Blake earned honorable mention.
Women's Basketball Player of the Week: Akasha Davis, Lamar – Sr. – C –Wylie, Texas (Wylie HS)
Davis recorded double-doubles in Lamar's recent two wins over East Texas A&M and Northwestern State. She averaged 19.5 points and 17 rebounds per game with two blocks and a steal. Davis had a sweet sixteen day against the Lions with 16 points (7-of-9 shooting) and 16 rebounds in an 83-65 win. Against the Demons, she sparked a comeback 59-55 victory with 23 points and 18 rebounds.
