HCU to Face LSU in First Round of NCAA Women's Soccer Championship

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Southland Tournament Champion HCU will meet No. 4 seed LSU in the first round of the 2025 NCAA Division I Women's Soccer Championships at LSU Soccer Stadium on Friday evening at 7 p.m., as announced on the NCAA Selection Show Monday afternoon.

HCU head coach Nick Whiting leads his team (12-8-2) into postseason play following the their remarkable run through the Southland Championship in Beaumont, Texas, last week. Olivia Rossman's golden goal helped the Huskies clinch the conference's automatic bid, taking out regular season champion Northwestern State and reigning Southland champion SFA in the championship match.

The Huskies storm into NCAA play having won their last five matches with four of those victories coming against teams that finished in the top four of the Southland regular season standings. HCU embraced the "underdog" mantra to begin its postseason campaign, entering the conference tournament with claim to only one all-conference selection in defender Alexia Murillo.

This will mark the third appearance for the Huskies in the NCAA tournament, still looking for their postseason win in program history. They previously went in 2014 (Texas A&M), 2016 (Stanford).
