FRISCO, Texas — Keon Thompson has been named this week's Jersey Mike's Southland Men's Basketball Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday. Thompson is a first-time winner of the award and the first conference Player of the Week this season. This also comes on the heels of his recognition as the Lou Henson National Player of the Week
Men's Basketball Player of the Week: Keon Thompson, SFA – Sr. – G – Merrillville, Indiana (Merrillville High School)
Thompson led SFA to a pair of wins against Arkansas State and Millsaps College, averaging 23.0 points in two games including a 26 point performance against Arkansas State, the No. 2 team in the Sun Belt Preseason Poll. He shot 57.6% from the floor and 33.3% from three-point range. Thompson averaged five rebounds, four assists and one steal. The senior from Merrillville, Ind. helped SFA score its most points through the first two games of a season since 2010-11.
