Southland Announces 2025 Women's Soccer All-Conference Teams and Superlatives

FRISCO – Northwestern State put a bow on an undisputed regular season title this past week and now caps the program's historic campaign with an impressive showing on the Southland Women's Soccer All-Conference and Superlatives announced by the conference office Monday.

The Demons took home five of the conference's eight superlatives. Junior Emily Senatore headlines this list, winning the conference's Player of the Year honor along with Midfielder of the Year after tying for the league lead in goals scored with 12. Half of those scores were game winning goals, the most of any player across the conference. Senatore's teammate Hosane Soukou was named Freshman of the Year, setting top-five marks in both goals (6) and points (17). Senior Jessica Spitzer earned Defender of the Year honors.

Head coach Ian Brophy was named the conference's Coach of the Year after leading the program to one of its most decorated regular season campaigns in its history. The Demons secured their first win over a nationally ranked team and power conference team on opening night, downing No. 19 Texas. Under Brophy in 2025 the Demons won 12 games, their highest total since 2000. Northwestern State's ratio of 42 goals to 12 goals allowed was also the best in the Southland this season.

Lamar's Lauren Smith took home Newcomer of the Year and Forward of the Year following an outstanding first year in the Southland. She led all players in points throughout the season with 29 and tied with Senatore in goals with 12. Smith also ended the regular season tied for fifth in assists with five.

SFA's Sierra McCluer was named the conference's Goalkeeper of the Year. McCluer turned in nine shutouts for the Lumberjacks, saving a total of 75 shots while accumulating an .833 save percentage.

The Southland Conference Soccer All-Conference Teams are nominated and voted upon by the conference's head coaches and SIDs.

The Southland Conference Soccer Championship begins Tuesday, November 4, in Beaumont, Texas. The semifinals take place on Thursday, November 7, with the championship set for Sunday November 9. All games will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
