FRISCO, Texas — East Texas A&M senior guard Gianni Hunt has been named this week's Southland Men's Basketball Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday. This is Hunt's first time earning the conference's weekly award.
Men's Basketball Player of the Week: Gianni Hunt, East Texas A&M – Sr. – G – Lakewood, Calif. (Bishop Montgomery High School)
Hunt guided the Lions to an undefeated stretch at the FDU Basketball Classic last week with wins over FDU and Army. He averaged 14 points and 5.5 rebounds in the two games. In the win over FDU, he scored 18 as the Lions rallied from a 17-point deficit to beat the Black Knights. He shot 70 percent in the game, hitting 4 of 5 three-point attempts and adding eight rebounds to the stat sheet. He then scored 10 along with three rebounds in the win over Army.
