Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Boise State Predicted as SLC Beach Volleyball Champions; Players to Watch Announced

FRISCO, Texas – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders and Boise State Broncos have been predicted to be the champions of the Southland Conference in beach volleyball, as the 2025 preseason poll and players to watch were released by the conference office on Thursday.

Both teams, who played in the championship match last season, tied for first in the preseason poll with 119 points. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi received nine first place votes, while Boise State received eight. HCU, who was selected to finish third, received one first-place vote.

The Islanders won the 2024 Southland Conference Beach Volleyball Championship in a 3-2 decision against Boise State. Boise State defeated the Islanders 3-2 the day before to advance to the championship match, while Texas A&M-Corpus Christi has to hold off No. 3 HCU 3-1 after the defeat to advance and eventually win the championship.

The field will feature nine teams competing for the beach volleyball title, with SFA in their first season as a member of the Southland Conference. The majority of conference play will take place at the mid-season invitational in Thibodaux, Louisiana, hosted by Nicholls State on March 21-23.

New Orleans will host the Southland Beach Volleyball Championships at Privateers Beach on April 23-25, with the winner taking the conference's automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament.

Head coaches and sports information directors at each school voted in the preseason poll and were not permitted to vote for their own school. The Players to Watch list was submitted by each school.

The regular season begins on Friday, February 21.
