UIW's Scott, Southeastern's Stuprich Named Jersey Mike's Players of the Week After Opening Weekend

FRISCO, Texas – UIW outfielder Ryan Scott and Southeastern starting pitcher Brennan Stuprich picked up the Southland Baseball Player of the Week awards for the first week of the 2025 season, which were announced Monday by the conference office.

Hitter of the Week: Ryan Scott, UIW - Sr. - OF - The Colony, Texas (The Colony HS)
Ryan Scott was a force at the plate all weekend, hitting .500 while slugging 1.643. All seven of his hits were extra-base hits as he racked up two doubles, a triple, and four homers on opening weekend. He drove in a whopping 15 runs in only 14 at-bats. Scott tallied an OPS of 2.169 after going 7 of 11 in his first 11 ABs of the season. 

Pitcher of the Week: Brennan Stuprich, Southeastern - R-Sr. - RHP - Kenner, La. (Brother Martin HS)
Brennan Stuprich struck out a career-high 13 batters in just 5.0 innings pitched and carried a no-hitter into the fifth inning. Stuprich set the tone as SLU shut out Lindenwood, 6-0, on Opening Night. It marked the sixth consecutive season that Southeastern has tossed a shutout during its season-opening series and was the second time that Stuprich has been part of that feat.
