FRISCO, Texas — Southeastern's Jakevion Buckley has been named this week's Jersey Mike's SLC Men's Basketball Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday. Buckley claims the award for the second straight week.
Men's Basketball Player of the Week: Jakevion Buckley – Sr. – G – Shelbyville, Texas (Shelbyville High School)
Buckley averaged 24.0 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists per contest in a 2-0 week for Southeastern, which has won 11 of its last 12 games. He led the Lions with 25 points in a 69-60 road win at HCU. In a 23-point effort in Saturday's 84-81 overtime victory over Nicholls, Buckley scored the final eight points of regulation to help force overtime, where teammate Sam Hines Jr. hit a game-winning three at the buzzer to help SLU remain in second place in the league standings.
