FRISCO – The Southland Conference announced the 2025 football schedule on Tuesday afternoon, including the announcement of UIW and Nicholls opening the college football season in Week 0. 

The previous two Southland Champions will meet in Thibodaux at John L. Guidry Stadium on August 23, 2025. Kickoff time and network announcement will come later this year. 

The Southland will officially move to 10 football-playing members in 2025 as UTRGV begins its first season on the gridiron. They kick off their campaign on August 30 in Edinburg against Sul Ross State. 

All 10 members will play a full eight-game conference season with four non-conference opponents. The season will conclude with rivalry week, including Thursday night match-ups on November 20 of the River Bell Classic between Nicholls and Southeastern and The Chief between SFA and Northwestern State. McNeese and Lamar will pick up the Battle of the Border on Saturday, November 22.
