FRISCO – HCU utility man Parker Edwards and SFA starting pitcher Cody Templeton were named the Southland Baseball Player of the Week awards for the fourth week of the 2025 season, which were announced Monday by the conference office.
Hitter of the Week: Parker Edwards, HCU - Sr. - DH/UT - Houston, Texas (Cy-Creek HS)
Parker Edwards continued his scorching start to SLC play, adding two more home runs to give him five through six conference games. He batted .417 in three games with two HR, two doubles, five RBI, and five runs scored as HCU won its series over McNeese. Edwards also started Friday evening's game, throwing 4.0 innings and allowing just one unearned run on one hit with six strikeouts.
Pitcher of the Week: Cody Templeton, SFA - Jr. - LHP - Buda, Texas (Buda Johnson HS)
Cody Templeton pitched a complete game shutout on Friday against Lamar, helping the Lumberjacks win game one of their series against the Cardinals. He struck out seven, allowing only five hits without walking anyone. This year, Templeton has a 1.53 ERA, a .71 WHIP, and 26 strikeouts over 29.1 innings, all leading the team. The junior lefty has gone six-plus innings in every start this year while only allowing five earned runs over his four starts.
