FRISCO – Lamar third baseman Zak Skinner and Southeastern starter Blake Lobell were named the Southland Baseball Player of the Week awards for the eighth week of the 2025 season, which were announced Monday by the conference office.
Hitter of the Week: Zak Skinner - Jr. - 3B - Melbourne, Australia (Vernon College)
Zak Skinner went 6 for 18 (.333) in four games with three doubles, three home runs and 12 RBIs. In a 22-16 midweek win at Tarleton State, he finished 3 for 7 with a double, two home runs and eight RBIs. Skinner hit a grand slam in the first inning while he also hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning. He also had a two-RBI double in the ninth. Skinner delivered the walk-off RBI double in a 6-5 victory over UT Arlington in Game 2. He finished 2 for 5 with two doubles and two RBIs. In the series finale he hit a two-run home run to finish 1 for 3 with two RBIs.

Pitcher of the Week: Blake Lobell - Jr. - RHP - Holden, La. (Springfield HS)
Blake Lobell tossed a complete game to claim the series over UIW this past weekend. Lobell allowed one unearned run on fours hits and struck out four batters to only two walks. Lobell threw 111 pitches and only allowed on extra base hit, keeping the Cardinal bats in check.
