UIW, Lamar Remain Ranked in National Polls for Week 3

FRISCO – UIW slipped a few spots but remained in the Top 25 of both the Stats Perform and AFCA polls, while Lamar climbed to No. 23 in the Stats Perform poll heading into Week 4, as announced Monday by both organizations.

UIW dropped to No. 19 in the latest Stats Perform poll and No. 14 in the AFCA poll after falling on the road to FBS foe and cross-town rival UTSA, 48-20. The Cardinals look to bounce back this weekend with a pivotal ranked road matchup against No. 17/19 Northern Arizona. This marks UIW’s 57th consecutive week in the Stats Perform poll.

Lamar rose one spot to No. 23 in the Stats Perform poll following a dominant 31-7 road victory over Texas Southern, powered by a stout defense and impactful special teams play. Big Red also received the second-most votes among teams outside the AFCA Top 25. The Cardinals will be idle in Week 4.

Southeastern, SFA, and Nicholls all continue to receive votes in both major polls. The Lions improved to 2-1 with a commanding 59-3 home-opening win over Mississippi Valley State, while the Lumberjacks christened their home slate with a 63-0 rout of Sul Ross. The Lions will head to Death Valley to battle No. 3/4 LSU, while SFA welcomes in Cal Poly. Nicholls returns to action at Texas State this week after its open date.
