A&M-Corpus Christi's Khatevi, SFA's Lewter Earn Opening Jersey Mike's Runners of the Week

FRISCO – Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's Elizabeth Khatevi and SFA's Lathan Lewter were named the Southland Conference Cross Country Runners of the Week for the opening week of the season, as announced by the league office on Tuesday.

Men’s Athlete of the Week: Lathan Lewter, SFA– Fr. – Canyon, Texas (Canyon HS)
Lewter won the Lumberjack Invitational with a time of 15:07.8 at an average of 5:02.6 per mile. 

Women’s Athlete of the Week: Elizabeth Khatevi, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi – So. – Kenya
Khatevi picked up right where she left off last season, earning the individual victory in the women’s 4k at the Cross Country at the Seashore meet with a time of 14:02.16. This mark was more than eight seconds clear of the second-place finisher, and it was good for second place in Islanders’ program history.
