Lamar, UIW Featured in National Polls in Week 4

FRISCO – Lamar climbed to No. 23 in the Stats Perform poll, while UIW clinged to No. 24 in the AFCA Poll heading into Week 5, as announced Monday by both organizations.

Lamar rose up another spot to No. 22 in the Stats Perform poll following a bye. In their last outing, they dominaned Texas Southern to a 31-7 win. They return home this upcoming Saturday against former Southland-foe Central Arkansas.

UIW fell to No. 24 in the AFCA poll after dropping a ranked match-up to then-No. 19 Northern Arizona, 31-23, in Flagstaff. UIW is receiving votes in the Stats Perform Poll, dropping out and snapping a streak of 57 consecutive weeks ranked. They return home to battle No. 12/13 Abilene Christian on Saturday. 

SFA continues to receive votes in both major polls after defeating Cal Poly, 35-17, to move to 2-2. They will open conference play at home against McNeese on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Southeastern and the upstart UTRGV Vaqueros are both receiving votes in the coaches poll. Southeastern fell to nationally-ranked FBS LSU on the road on Saturday, while UTRGV moved to 4-0 with a 61-13 cruising over Texas Wesleyan. The two squads will meet on Saturday in Hammond for both squads SLC opener.
