FRISCO – UIW remained in the Top 25 of both the Stats Perform and AFCA polls, while Lamar entered at No. 24 in the Stats Perform poll heading into Week 3, as announced Monday by both organizations.
UIW sits at 1-1 overall and is coming off an open week after defeating Eastern Washington in its last outing. The Cardinals now prepare for a San Antonio showdown with cross-town FBS opponent UTSA. It is UIW’s 55th consecutive week in the Stats Perform poll.
For a program that had never been ranked in the Stats Perform FCS Top 25 prior to the 2024 season, Lamar has now made the poll in consecutive years. The Cardinals returned to the Top 25 following their 20-13 win over No. 4 South Dakota on Saturday evening at Provost Umphrey Stadium. The victory propelled the Big Red to No. 24 in the Stats Perform Top 25, while also receiving votes in the AFCA poll.
SFA and Nicholls are receiving votes in both major polls, while Southeastern is receiving votes in the AFCA rankings. SFA dropped its ranked match-up to now-No. 13/13 Abilene Christian, 28-20, while Nicholls fell at home to now-No. 25/RV West Georgia, 34-10. Southeastern rolled past Murray State on the road, 45-24, to secure its first win of the season in its first FCS match-up.
