SFA's Thompson Named Southland Men's Basketball Player of the Week

FRISCO, Texas — SFA senior guard Keon Thompson has been named this week's Southland Men's Basketball Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday. Thompson is now a five-time winner of the award this season, earning recognition for the second straight week and the third time in the last four weeks.

Men's Basketball Player of the Week: Keon Thompson, SFA – Sr. – G – Merrillville, Ind. (Merrillville High School)
Thompson scored 25 of his career-high 32 points in the second half of SFA's road win at UTRGV. He shot 90% from the floor in the final twenty minutes as the Jacks snapped the Vaqueros' eight-game winning streak. His 12 made shots against UTRGV are a career-best effort. For the week, he averaged 24.5 ppg on 50% shooting along with 4.5 rebounds, four assists and 2.5 steals. Thompson's efforts helped the Jacks secure their 10th and 11th wins of the season to secure at minimum a double-bye in the Southland Men's Basketball Championship.
