Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's Lowth, Northwestern State's Brown win Southland Indoor Track & Field Weekly Awards

FRISCO, Texas – Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's Kye Lowth and Northwestern State's Donroy Brown have earned the Men's Track & Field Athletes of the Week awards, respectively, as announced by the conference office on Wednesday.
Men’s Track Athlete of the Week: Kye Lowth – Distance - So. - Brisbane, Austrailia
Lowth made Islanders history over the weekend at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational in Boston. He clocked a time of 8:05.80 in the 3000m that broke the old school record, set by national champion and A&M-Corpus Christi Hall of Honor inductee Shadrack Songok nearly 18 years ago at the 2008 Southland Conference Indoor Championships. This time also stands as the new top mark in the conference this season.
Men’s Field Athlete of the Week: Donroy Brown, Northwestern State – Shot Put - Sr. – Westmoreland, Jamaica
Brown competed in the shot put setting a new best mark in the Southland Conference, throwing a 57-5.75, at the Jarvis Scott Invite. That mark is ninth in the South Central Region and 121st nationally.
