FRISCO, Texas – The Southland Conference announced this year's Women's Tennis All-Conference Teams and Superlatives Friday. ahead of the 2026 Southland Conference Tennis Championships.
UIW senior Estefania Gonzalez earned the conference's Player of the Year award. Gonzalez had a stellar season at singles flight No. 1, posting a 7-2 record at that position while earning a spot on the All-Conference First Team. Gonzalez 10-5 record overall in singles contests along with a 8-1 record at doubles flight No. 1.
Martina Acebedo Bonocore of Northwestern State took home the conference's Freshman of the Year award. Bonocore sparked the Demons to a second-place finish in the regular season, going 13-2 overall in singles matches with an 8-1 record in conference play. She also earned a spot on the All-Conference Second Team at singles flight No. 4 and doubles No. 3 with partner Athina Grigoriadou.
Southeastern's Paige Duncan wins the conference's Newcomer of the Year award. Duncan went 7-2 in conference singles matches and won half of her matches at flight No. 1 doubles.
McNeese head coach Sonia Carlson claims Coach of the Year honors after leading a historic campaign in her second season with the Cowgirls. Under Carlson's leadership, McNeese went undefeated in conference play and unbeaten at home for the third time in program history. The Cowgirls enter the postseason winners of their last 16 contests and a school record 21 wins already under their belt.
