Championship Rematch Set as SFA, A&M-Corpus Christi Advance at the Southland Women's Tennis Tournament

BEAUMONT, Texas – A rematch of last year’s championship is set as No. 3 Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and No. 4 SFA advanced through semifinal play Monday at the 2026 Southland Women’s Tennis Championship at the Beaumont Municipal Tennis Center.

The Islanders rolled past No. 2 Northwestern State, while SFA knocked off top-seeded McNeese to return to the title match.


Match 5 – (3) Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 4, (2) Northwestern State 0

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi delivered a dominant performance, sweeping Northwestern State to secure a spot in the championship match.

The Islanders took the doubles point behind wins from Yana Mykytyn/Kseniya Ramanouskaya and Adri Jimenez Casado/Viktoriia Sedova, setting the tone early.

In singles, Yana Mykytyn (6-2, 6-2 at No. 2), Kseniya Ramanouskaya (6-1, 6-2 at No. 3), and Josefa Fuenzalida (6-2, 6-1 at No. 4) each posted straight-set victories to complete the 4-0 sweep.


Match 6 – (4) SFA 4, (1) McNeese 2

SFA knocked off top-seeded McNeese in a hard-fought semifinal to return to the championship match.

The Ladyjacks claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 before splitting the opening singles matches. McNeese got on the board with a win from Salome Fluri at No. 1, but SFA answered with Felcia Back (6-4, 6-2 at No. 2) and Ksenia Mamontova (6-3, 6-4 at No. 3) to regain control.

After McNeese picked up a second point at No. 6 singles, it came down to the final court once again for SFA. For the second straight day, Ana Paula Chavez delivered the clinching point, battling to a 7-6, 6-4 win at No. 5 to secure the 4-2 victory.
