FRISCO – Nicholls outfielder Greyson Shafer and Lamar pitcher Chris Olivier picked up the Southland Baseball Player of the Week awards for the tenth week of the 2026 season, which were announced Monday by the conference office.

Hitter of the Week: Greyson Shafer, Nicholls - Jr. - OF - Boise, Idaho (Timberline HS)
Greyson Shafer delivered a standout week at the plate, powering Nicholls to a weekend sweep with a team-leading eight hits, including three doubles and three home runs, while driving in nine runs and scoring seven times across four games. After homering in the midweek at South Alabama, Shafer elevated his play in conference action at Stephen F. Austin, highlighted by a multi-hit, multi-RBI effort in Saturday’s 24-3 win before closing the series in dominant fashion by going 3-for-4 with a home run in a 5-0 victory to secure the sweep. Combining consistent contact with explosive power, Shafer was a constant offensive catalyst and one of the league’s most impactful hitters of the week.

Pitcher of the Week: Chris Olivier, Lamar - Sr. - RHP - Mandeville, La. (Lakeshore HS)
Chris Olivier turned in a dominant outing to earn his third Pitcher of the Week honor, tossing a complete-game shutout in Lamar’s 5-0 win over Northwestern State while allowing just two hits and one walk with 11 strikeouts. The senior right-hander was in full control from start to finish, retiring 11 of his final 12 batters and facing just one over the minimum in the nine-inning gem. Olivier’s performance marked the first complete-game shutout by a Cardinal since 2021 and continued his trend of overpowering hitters at home, where he has now recorded double-digit strikeouts in four of six starts, further solidifying his role as one of the league’s most dominant arms.
