FRISCO, Texas –UTRGV's Charlotte O'Keefe has earned the Southland Conference's Women's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Year honor, the league announced Monday along with the All-Academic team.
O'Keefe earned a 3.87 GPA with a major in Finance. She is a four-time program record holder, holding the top marks in career rebounds (1,207), career blocks (146), single-season rebounds (400), and single-game rebounds (24). The senior from Overland Park, Kansas is the only player in program history to surpass 1,000 career points and rebounds as she finished with 1,110 points over four years, ranking sixth in program history. O’Keefe recorded 39 career double-doubles, which is fourth-most in SLC history. With 1,207 career rebounds to her name, O’Keefe ranks fifth all-time in program history and was No. 3 in the nation among active Div. I players in 2025-26.
She earned All-Conference First Team and All-Defensive Team recognition and was a three-time SLC Player of the Week. O’Keefe was the nation’s No. 2 rebounder in back-to-back seasons as a junior and senior and the only player in the SLC to average a double-double both seasons. She led the SLC in six stat categories this season and ranked among the nation’s best in eight, including rebounds per game (second), defensive RPG (third), total rebounds (sixth), offensive RPG (12th), double-doubles (14th), minutes/game (21st), blocks/game (60th), and total blocks (78th). O'Keefe is a two-time All-Conference and two-time All-Defensive team honoree and has racked up academic awards, including making the SLC All-Academic Team and CSC Academic All-District Team.
Southland Conference All-Academic Teams are nominated by the head coach, sports information director and an academic/compliance staff member from each school. Voting for one’s own athlete for Student-Athelte of the year is not permitted.
To be eligible for all-academic distinction, an athlete must hold a minimum 3.25 cumulative grade point average through the semester prior to the sport’s championship, completed at least one full academic semester at the nominating school prior to the current season, and participated in at least 50 percent of the team’s competitions during the most recently completed season. Student-Athlete of the Year nominees must have held at least a 3.50 GPA and have completed at least one semester of athletic competition at the nominating school, including the current season.
