FRISCO – McNeese outfielder Danny Barbero and pitcher Eric Nachtsheim picked up the Southland Baseball Player of the Week awards for the 13th week of the 2026 season, which were announced Monday by the conference office.

Hitter of the Week: Danny Barbero, McNeese - Sr. - OF - Albany, N.Y. (Butler)
Danny Barbero put together an outstanding week at the plate, leading the offense with a .438 batting average across four games. He went 7-for-16 with three home runs, driving in four RBIs while racking up 16 total bases. Barbero posted a 1.000 slugging percentage and a .471 on-base percentage, consistently producing extra-base power and creating scoring opportunities throughout the week capping it off with all three home runs coming at SFA and two of them happening in game three,

Pitcher of the Week: Eric Nachtsheim?, McNeese - Sr. - RHP - Reno, Nev. (Mesa CC)
Eric Nachtsheim turned in a dominant performance on the mound this week, leading the way with an impressive outing in his start against SFA. He went 1–0, tossing 8.0 innings while allowing just four hits and one walk, finishing with an outstanding 0.63 WHIP. Nachtsheim struck out nine batters, consistently commanding the zone and keeping hitters off balance throughout the game. With the performance, he reached 105 strikeouts on the season, moving into a tie for fifth place on McNeese’s single-season strikeout record list. His outing set the tone in the series opener and reinforced his consistency and command on the mound.
